Detailed Description
Point Of View is a luminous fine art Giclée print from Kirsty Nixon’s Flora & Fauna collection, evoking the warmth and vibrancy of a quintessential New Zealand summer. At its heart, a duo of Tūī rest attentively among glowing clusters of golden karaka berries, their gaze cast beyond the frame as though surveying the season in motion.
The composition balances freshness and richness: to the left, high summer skies break through the foliage in clear tones of dusty blue, while to the right, dense karaka leaves and sweeping nīkau fronds create a lush green tapestry. The interplay of berries, palms, and foliage infuses the work with both rhythm and abundance, encapsulating the feel of long, sun-filled days.
Unique to Aotearoa, the Tūī is instantly recognisable by its iridescent plumage, white throat tuft, and melodic song. In Māori tradition, the bird is revered as a sacred messenger – symbolising life fulfilment and spiritual harmony. Here, their dual presence adds a sense of companionship and perspective, as though quietly inviting the viewer to pause and look beyond.
Point Of View is more than a depiction of native birdlife – it is a celebration of season and spirit. With its layered foliage, radiant colour palette, and attentive pair of Tūī, the artwork brings vitality, optimism, and the essence of a Kiwi summer into any interior.
