Wild Ones captures three spirited Tūī mid-flight, soaring across a backdrop infused with sunset-inspired hues—radiating movement, joy, and freedom. This limited edition screen print is part of Kirsty Nixon’s Chorus of Colour collection, where bold palettes and softened textures subtly echo her early explorations with water-based mediums.

Native to Aotearoa, the Tūī is easily recognised by its iridescent green-blue feathers and distinctive white throat tuft. Known for their melodic calls and energetic nature, Tūī often appear before they’re seen.

In Māori mythology, they are believed to be ‘heavenly messengers’—symbols of life fulfilment, confidence, and spiritual harmony—adding depth and meaning to this vibrant celebration of nature in motion.
