Detailed Description

Room With A View is an outdoor artwork by Kirsty Nixon that celebrates the harmony of native flora and fauna in a uniquely Aotearoa setting. A striking Tūī surveys the scene from a lush perch, framed by the golden blooms of Kōwhai, the sculptural elegance of Tī Kōuka (Cabbage Tree) and Nīkau Palm, and the rich evergreen foliage of the Pōhutukawa. In the distance, Rangitoto Island—Auckland’s youngest and most iconic volcanic cone—rises from the horizon, grounding the composition in both place and memory.

The Tūī, known for its iridescent plumage and melodic song, holds deep cultural meaning in Māori mythology, symbolising life fulfilment and spiritual harmony.
